Gustav Wasa 500 years

Members of the Anglo-Swedish Society and Anglo-Finnish Society joined together to celebrate the five-hundredth anniversary of the election of Gustav Wasa as King of Sweden and Grand Duke of Finland. Eleven days after his election, Gustav Wasa made a triumphant entry into Stockholm and twenty-one years later he abolished Sweden/ Finland's hereditary monarchy and established the hereditary house of Wasa. Lunch was served in the magnificent Great Hall of Lincoln's Inn Fields.
