Sigismund Dinner

The Anglo-Swedish and Anglo-Finnish societies arranged a King Sigismund Dinner at the Polish Club's Ognisko Restaurant. 2023 is the five hundredth anniversary of the accession of King Gustav Wasa to the Swedish (including Finnish) throne. His grandson, King Sigismund Wasa, was the only person to have been ruler of Sweden, Finland, Poland and Lithuania. All four nations were represented among the guests, including Ms Heli Lehto, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Finland and Ms Lina Zigmantaite, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Lithuania. During dinner, Professor Neil Kent and Professor David Goldsmith gave some very interesting historical background. Many thanks to the Anglo-Finnish Society for their help in organising this highly successful and enjoyable evening.
