The renowned Finland-Swedish author Ulla-Lena Lundberg spoke to members and friends of the society about her work and gave a brief introduction to Swedish literature. Ulla-Lena is probably best known for her 2012 novel Is, translated into English as Ice for which she received the Finlandia Prize. The event was held in the intimate setting of the library at the Swedish Church and was very well attended. After the talk, guests could mingle and chat and enjoy some refreshments. The society is extremely grateful to Ulla-Lena for making the journey to London from her home in Finland to talk to the society about her thought-provoking work. A special thank you also to council member Robert Freeman who was instrumental in setting up the talk.
